information..

A popular myth is that it is difficult to insure a Japanese import - well it's not if you use a specialist. The import market has matured and this problem is certainly diminishing (hello Churchill are you out there). We know  of many recent quotations which have been identical for both UK and Japanese versions. As a rough guide, if the premium loading is more than 5% over a UK equivalent, simply try another company.

It's not just the vehicle's insurance rating or group that determines the premium. As well as the vehicle, underwriters take in to account many factors, including age and number of drivers, endorsements, claims record, employment, post code and probably inside leg measurement as well. Nevertheless, we have found that quotations can vary significantly from company to company - even for the same driver and car combination. As ever, don't be afraid to shop around for the best quote.

You may be able to reduce premiums by accepting a higher accidental damage excess, say £500 instead of the more usual £250. If the insured vehicle is a second car or weekend runabout, then a limited mileage policy may offer savings.
There are often discounts available for vehicles over 10 years old - it's certainly worth asking your broker the question.
Finally, if you are a member of a union, association or club that has negotiated preferential insurance rates then significant savings may be available.
