reliability..
Over the last few
years Japanese cars have dominated reliability surveys. A recent survey October
2005, carried out by
What Car? magazine in conjunction with Warranty Direct (0800 731 7001) only reinforces the
bullet proof reputation of Japanese vehicles.
The top ten in descending order were Honda, Mazda, Toyota, Nissan, Lexus,
Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Daewoo, Skoda, Mercedes
VW dropped from 12th to 15th and BMW dropped from 14th to 17th. At
the other end of the scale, Land Rover were an unsurprising 30th but SAAB at
29th and Audi on 28th must be a blow for these so-called prestigious marques.
The Jap dominance was no surprise at all, confirming as it does, our personal
experience of these marques. In our opinion Mr Average Motorist really needs a
good argument not to buy Japanese. They may not be cutting edge in styling,
technology or desirability, but when it comes to starting-when-you-turn-the-key,
the Japanese are still streets ahead of the European opposition.
acknowledgement..
You may well want to check out the What Car? web site, but in their terms and
conditions they do not encourage links. So you may wish to cut and paste whatcar.com
and prefix it with www. Shame really, because it's an excellent
motor oriented site.
We have no personal experience of Warranty Direct, or their mechanical breakdown
insurance policies, but they can be contacted on 0800 731 7001.
